The Lord is So Kind

" The LORD is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness.— Psalm 145:17 (NLT)

Sometimes, in the busyness of daily life, the kindness of the Lord can be overlooked. Yet, every moment of our lives speaks to His never-ending gentleness and mercy. Whether it’s through a comforting word in times of need, the warm sun shining on us, or unexpected help from a friend, God’s kindness fills our everyday experiences. Let’s take a moment to reflect on and celebrate the quiet yet powerful ways God shows His love and kindness each day.

" The LORD is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness." — Psalm 145:17 (NLT)

This verse reminds us that God’s actions are not only guided by His righteousness but are also expressions of His kindness. Every act of God is infused with a gentle compassion that speaks to His character. It describes His nature. This combination of righteousness and kindness is a tangible reality that we can observe and experience in our daily lives. I am so thankful for this truth.

There are so many things that remind us of God's kindness, from the sun rising to the breath in our lungs. These things and so much more are acts of love from a Creator who delights in blessing His creation. In times of need, whether financial, emotional, or spiritual, the resources we receive are expressions of God’s kind intervention. When we face crossroads or decisions, the wisdom and direction we receive through the Holy Spirit, the counsel of godly friends, or a timely scripture are all manifestations of His kindness. He gently leads us along paths that are for our good and His glory.

Often, we may not even be aware of the dangers or pitfalls we have been shielded from by His kind hand. As we reflect, I am sure we can think of moments where things could have gone drastically wrong but didn’t, thanks to His protective grace. Maybe the greatest display of God’s kindness is found in the forgiveness offered through Jesus Christ. His willingness to erase our sins and remember them no more shows a level of kindness and compassion that defies human understanding.

Take time to meditate on the ways God has shown His kindness in your life. Reflect on both the significant and seemingly insignificant moments. Cultivate a habit of thanking God daily for His kindness. Recognizing and acknowledging His acts of kindness can transform our perspective and increase our awareness of His involvement in our lives. Tell others about the specific ways you’ve seen God’s kindness at work. Testimonies can uplift and strengthen the faith of both the sharer and the listener.

The kindness of the Lord is boundless and ever-present. By taking the time to recognize and appreciate His acts of kindness, we deepen our relationship with Him and increase our faith, allowing us to trust in His good and perfect will with greater confidence.

Recognizing God’s Kindness in Our Lives:

In the Simple Blessings

God’s kindness often shows up in the simplest things. Start each day by acknowledging the small blessings. This helps cultivate an awareness of God’s ongoing kindness in your life.

In Our Relationships

God expresses His kindness through the people He places in our lives. From a supportive family member to a thoughtful colleague, these relationships are channels of God’s mercy and care. Take a moment to appreciate the people around you. Consider reaching out to someone who embodies God’s kindness and thank them for their presence in your life.

In Times of Challenge

Even in our struggles, God’s kindness is present, providing strength and comfort when we need it most, often in ways we might not immediately recognize. Identify how God provided support through a recent challenge. It might have been internal peace, external support, or an unexpected resolution.

Other things you can do are:

1) Keep a kindness journal. Each night, write down an instance of God’s kindness to you or through you to others.

2) Set a goal to perform at least one deliberate act of kindness each day, reflecting God’s love to those around you.

Dear God, thank you for your boundless kindness that touches every part of our lives. Help us to not only recognize your kindness but also to be vessels of your love and compassion to others. May we reflect your gentleness in all that we do. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

By actively recognizing and responding to the kindness of the Lord, we not only deepen our own faith but also spread His love and gentleness to a world in desperate need of both. Let’s commit to being ambassadors of His kindness, day by day, moment by moment.
